I’m a highly experienced teacher of all ages and backgrounds, offering lessons in piano, theory, organ and composition. I mentor dozens of students for ABRSM Grade exams, many of whom gain distinction and merit marks. However, I’m equally adept in teaching casual learners, creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment for those pursuing piano as a hobby.

Jacques Allen (born 2001) is an award-winning composer, organist, pianist, and in-demand music teacher based in London. He is the Director of Music and organist at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Canning Town, the largest parish of any denomination in the London Borough of Newham. After completing a music degree from the University of Oxford, Jacques gained a master’s in composition from the Royal College of Music, where he studied under Kenneth Hesketh. He has worked with world-renowned groups including the Oxford Symphony Orchestra, the Explore Ensemble and the Castalian String Quartet. Jacques’s works span a variety of musical genres, including concert, film, operatic, and sacred music. As a pianist, Jacques has performed at prestigious venues such as Somerset House, the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch, and Clare College, Cambridge. In 2024, his composition Elegy for the Feminine Man won the RCM Large Ensemble Competition, and in the previous year his work featured in a multimedia installation that won the Art: High Budget category of the 2023 [d]arc awards. This year, his piece Monkey Paw was nominated for the Ivan Juritz award.
