Academic Support

I offer online academic support for students around the world, particularly those working towards UK qualifications such as GCSEs, A-Levels, and ABRSM music theory exams.

Whether you need guidance on coursework, help preparing for theory exams, or regular support with homework, I work with each student to understand their goals and build a plan that works for them.

  • GCSE, A Level and IB Guidance – I provide detailed, constructive feedback on essays and coursework for GCSE, A-Level and International Baccalaureate students. My aim is to help you understand not just what to improve, but why, so you can apply those skills to your future work.

  • Theory, harmony and counterpoint – I teach all ABRSM grades from 1 to 8, and can also help with harmony, counterpoint, analysis, and aural skills up to degree/diploma level.

  • Homework support – For students who benefit from regular guidance, I offer ongoing sessions to work through assignments, clarify concepts, and keep progress on track.

  • Music lessons – Piano, organ, and composition lessons are available online. I welcome students of all levels, whether preparing for exams or simply learning for enjoyment.

Working with international students

Many of my online students are based in Hong Kong, Singapore, and elsewhere in Asia, preparing for UK examinations or university applications. My experience from the University of Oxford and the Royal College of Music can help you on your academic journey. I schedule sessions flexibly to accommodate different time zones, and I understand the particular challenges of studying for qualifications from abroad.

I believe that learning works best when it's enjoyable and when students feel genuinely supported. I balance encouragement with honesty - I'll always tell you what's working and what needs more attention. My goal is to help you build confidence and achieve results you're proud of.
